ILLUSIONS OF TIME

Navid Mirzaei Kordlar is a talented painter who, drawing on academic knowledge and a contemporary mode of thinking, has developed a visual language with a distinct and independent identity.

The elements and visual atmosphere of this body of work reflect a sense of hyperreality and a conscious engagement with questions of identity in relation to nature. His works reveal a form of trans-textual allegory, through which the pictorial space moves toward an experience marked by ambiguity and mist-like atmospheres, while clearly evoking a distinctly Iranian landscape.

By focusing on the motif of the tree and employing its deliberate repetition, Mirzaei Kordlar arrives at a new conceptual approach to visual expression. The works of this period emphasize the painter’s mental constructs—going beyond what exists in nature in a purely literal sense—and invite the viewer to engage with the work through an allegorical reading.
