ARTIST STATEMENT

Navid Mirzaei’s works represent a continuous endeavor to explore the concept of identity within the context of contemporary life—a form of identity that oscillates between individual experience, collective memory, and cultural roots. This exploration is shaped by a contemporary perspective while maintaining a connection to nature and the Iranian environment.

In his artistic process, through the use of mediums such as acrylic and oil paint and grounded in academic knowledge, he has developed a visual language that moves away from direct representation and emphasizes ambiguity, suspension, and inner experience. In his works, the image is not a depiction of reality but a field where mind, memory, and emotion intersect.

The recurring motif of the tree in his artworks refers to the artist’s inner world and philosophical reflections; a presence that simultaneously carries rootedness, stability, and fragility, providing a framework for expressing a poetic perspective on humanity and the contemporary condition.
